Our licensed Opticians are responsible for selling & dispensing eyewear as well as eyewear accessories to patients and guests. They ensure patients are fitted with the right-size frames that accommodate their needs and lifestyle. Being able to dispense lenses with correct prescription and measurements are critical. Opticians are at the heart of our business. Their technical and customer service skills are paramount to patient satisfaction and repeat business.

Optician/Licensed Optician Duties & Responsibilities

· Provide and deliver an exceptional experience to each and every patient. Educate and empower patients with a complete understanding of our customized recommendations for products and services.
· Assists patients in selecting their frames, lens type, and lens treatments such as tints and coatings.
· Collects eye and face measurements to ensure proper fit of products.
· Custom fits glasses and be able to adjust frames for patients and guests.
· Generate own clientele from providing personal outstanding service and obtain referrals
· Interprets prescriptions written by optometrist and ophthalmologist.
· Assists co-workers with difficult or complex areas of product needs & prescriptions.
· Creates work orders for lab technicians and specify lens orders
· Keeps current on industry news as well as products and procedures, manufacturer rebates, and types of lenses and frames available.
· Answers and returns patient calls. Updating patients on the status of their order and resolving order issues should they arise. Escalates urgent issues to the Office/store Manager, when necessary.
· Educates patients on proper eyeglass and contact lens care and use.
· Follows-up on all pending orders. Verifies all orders are within the timelines given and informs patients of order status if delays occur. Notifies patient when orders arrive from lab/manufacturer.
· Properly dispenses glasses by inspecting the product, checking for proper fit, adjusting if necessary, and asking for feedback.
· Adjusts eyewear to ensure proper fit, visual acuity and patient comfort. Be able to use various tools to perform eyewear adjustments and repairs.
· Proficient in using instruments such as pupilometers, PD Sticks, lensmeters, pliers, wrenches, frame warmers, etc.
· Communicate regularly with technicians and office/store manager, provide additional patient information, or update an order status.
· Inspects final products ensuring there are no flaws; Cleans and polishes lenses using cloths and solvents.
· Cleans and organizes frame boards, displays, mirrors, work bench, office area, bathroom, and break room, maintaining overall cleanliness and visual appeal of the store.
· Restocks retail boards with new merchandise.
· Understands product issues and analyzes any problems. Thoroughly and accurately answer patients' questions regarding insurance, warranty, products, materials, services, pricing, upgrades, promotions, etc.
· Collaborates with technicians, front desk associates, Managers, and Optometrist.

We’re looking for future team members with:

· High School Diploma or equivalent
· State Licensure (preferred)
· 3 years experience working as an Optician
· Experience with HIPAA requirements (preferred)
· Ability to adapt quickly and be part of a team
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
· Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
· Excellent customer service skills and pleasant demeanor; Sales Experience a plus
· Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
· Reliable transportation, Dependability and punctuality
· Ability to lift up to 40lbs, bend, kneel, and stand up to 8 hrs a day

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
